For the Youth

All youth – And your friends – You don’t have to belong to one of our Youth Groups to sing or play an instrument at our church during worship and at other church programs. Our Youth Band is taking a break this fall, but we hope to have a few smaller ensembles of singers and/or instrumentalists to perform several times during the year. Expect to hear more soon about such opportunities and please let me know if you get inspired to put a group together. If you can stand being with a bunch of adults you are welcome to sing with Singspiration! or the Chancel Choir.

From our Music Minister

Welcome to the music and liturgy page of Mt. Sinai UCC’s website. Whether you are a music maker or a listener, we are delighted you are curious about what’s happening and hope you find information that is of interest to you. If you want more information about ongoing programs or have ideas about an event or an ensemble you don’t see here, please contact me at the church, 473-1582, with suggestions or questions.

In joy and peace,
Rev. Elaine

Chancel Choir

The most visible group in our music program – All youth and adults who have an interest in performing mixed choral music are invited to rehearse and sing with Chancel Choir. It helps if you’ve had some choir experience in your life, but a love of singing and availability for rehearsals are the only requirements for participation. Chancel Choir sings in the first or second worship almost every Sunday from mid September until mid June. We rehearse nearly every Thursday night from now through June 20 at 7:30-9:00 pm in the Meeting House. If your life choices don’t permit you to sing regularly with Chancel Choir, but you would like to join us for all or part of the Lenten and Easter seasons, please let me know so that we can work out the rehearsal and performance schedule.

Church School Music

With the regular presence of our Church School Music Team the children have been singing and signing and moving all year while learning songs that enhance their curriculum themes of communion and discipleship.

As usual most of the music will be accompanied by instruments and tracks that appeal especially to the children. For those of you who are still missing the Children’s Choir, continue to stay posted for what’s in store.

Harbor Bells

Harbor Bells, our intermediate level handbell choir, welcomes youth and adults who have music reading skill – and brave hearts! All our stands are currently filled with regular ringers but we do need several substitute ringers who could fill in at rehearsals and worship when needed. Harbor Bells continue to rehearse on Thursdays at 5:30-7:00 pm in Voorhees Hall, through June 20th this year. Please speak with me if you are interested and together we’ll decide if handbell ringing is the right thing for you.

Singspiration

Singspiration!
--Our small vocal praise ensemble of youth and adults is preparing for Advent and Christmas seasons. If you are an accomplished piano, bass, guitar or drum player Singspiration encourages you to talk with us about playing with the singers on a regular basis.

Drama in Worship

We do not have a formal Drama Group at this time.
If you are a writer or performer and would like to share your talents with our congregation please speak to Rev. Elaine or Mary Larson
